Great article. My husband and I visited New Harmony, Indiana about 7-8 years ago. Very interesting little town with an "other worldly" atmosphere about it. It would be a great place for a retreat, although the nice hotel we stayed in had he worst bed I've ever slept in (or attempted to) in my life- it had ropes for springs.

Oh dear... ropes for springs, seems more appropriate for hanging than sleeping!

We visited New Lanark in Scotland the summer before the pandemic... there was no children's dorm to see or much information on their treatment but the whole site is interesting - a bit of a Disney-like ride presentation that takes you through the story of several people - including children - that worked there. Having grandparents who worked in cotton mills in Preston before they immigrated - to Rhode Island during the time of labor strikes in the UK and when when workers were solicited to come work in mills in the US... part of this is my genetic history. Certainly makes me count my blessings .. Thank you for an excellent article. I am amazed at the numb…

How amazing to have such a direct connection. We can never have enough gratitude for all the advances and conveniences of modern living.

Yes, I found it necessary to prove that I'm at least nine years old. In my defense, I'm approaching my second childhood.

Everyone should have a second childhood if not a third!
